Utilised extensively in the Airbus A350 XWB aircraft family, carbon-fibre reinforced plastic is lighter than aluminium, stronger than iron, and more corrosion-resistant than both. Here, a component is fed through a high tech loom that braids the carbon fibres into place.

An aircraft component is fed through a high tech loom where strands of carbon fibre are braided together. From the cornerstone A310’s vertical stabiliser to today’s A350 XWB, Airbus has pioneered the use of such composite materials in its commercial jetliners.

Airbus A380plus ‘cabin enablers’

This video is a live demonstration, by Roland Naudy – A380 Cabin Marketing Director, of ‘cabin enablers’ which along with aerodynamic and operational improvements form the A380plus. These cabin enablers allow 80 additional seats to be accommodated without compromising comfort.
